The line about not wanting them back, just wanting the version of yourself that existed with them, is the part that’s hard to sit with. It makes me think grief for a relationship and grief for a self might just be the same process wearing two names.

So true. Really is a form of grief, isn't it? I think the only thing we can do is really process the identity that we're grieving when we were with that person.

This letter touched something in me, I could say It came at the right time, I was thinking about my best friend. We broke up last 4 months, sometimes I forget her, and the other time I remember it, and how beautiful nights we had talking and laughing together. We couldn't go back to how we were before.

So sorry to hear about the breakup with your friend, but I think it's really nice to be grateful for the times that you had together at least.

It’s the version of me when I was with you that I could not let go of — I was happy. Genuinely happy. The kind of happiness that you feel running through your veins.

And that’s actually because you happen to be the very first person to make me feel that I don’t have to be more without feeling less.

I wonder if you were that happy too. But I wish you are now.
